The short version: Audio is transcribed on your device by default. We never take screenshots, never sell your data, and never train models on your personal recordings without explicit opt-in.
1. What we collect
We collect only what's needed to operate voibly and improve it for you.
- Account information. Your email and (optionally) name, so we can identify your account and send service-related notices.
- Audio you dictate. By default, audio is processed on your device and never sent to our servers. If you opt in to cloud polishing, audio is sent over an encrypted channel, used to generate the cleaned text, and discarded — we don't persist it.
- Usage telemetry. Aggregated, anonymized signals like feature usage counts, app version, and crash diagnostics. You can disable this in Settings.
- Payment information. Processed by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.
2. How we use it
- To provide voibly and the features you've enabled.
- To send service messages (security alerts, billing, product updates you've opted into).
- To improve voibly using anonymized, aggregated signals — never your raw recordings.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable law.
3. What we don't do
- No screenshots or screen recording. Ever. voibly listens only while the hotkey is held.
- No selling of personal data. We never have, and we never will.
- No training on your recordings. Unless you explicitly opt in to contribute samples to model improvement, your audio is not used for training.
- No background monitoring. We don't track keystrokes, clipboard contents, or which apps you use.
4. Sharing & sub-processors
We rely on a small set of vendors to operate voibly. Each is contractually bound by appropriate data-protection terms.
- Stripe — payment processing
- Amazon Web Services — cloud infrastructure for opt-in cloud features
- Postmark — transactional email delivery
- Sentry — anonymized crash and error reporting
- Plausible — privacy-preserving website analytics
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers.
5. Retention
- Account information: retained while your account is active, plus 90 days after closure.
- Audio in cloud-polishing mode: never persisted beyond the few seconds needed to generate text.
- Aggregated, anonymized analytics: retained up to 24 months.
- Billing records: retained as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@voibly.app. We respond within 30 days.
If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
7. Cookies
Our website uses a single first-party cookie to remember your theme and authentication state. We don't use third-party advertising cookies. Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless.
8. Children
voibly is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
9. International transfers
If you use cloud features, your data may be processed in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards for transfers from the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.
10. Changes to this policy
We'll notify you at least 30 days before any material change to this Privacy Policy by email and via an in-app notice. You can always view the current version at voibly.com/privacy.
